BARBARA KELLER — DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES  BIG GAME PROGRAM LEADER

Barb Keller holds a B.S. in Nat­ur­al Resource Man­age­ment from North­land Col­lege, a Mas­ter of Sci­ence in Wildlife Sci­ence from New Mex­i­co State Uni­ver­si­ty and a PhD in Wildlife Sci­ence from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri. She has over 20 years of research and man­age­ment expe­ri­ence on ungu­late species includ­ing bighorn sheep, bison, elk, prong­horn and white-tailed deer, in a vari­ety of habi­tats includ­ing Rocky Moun­tain Nation­al Park, the Black Hills of South Dako­ta and the Mis­souri Ozarks. Barb served as a Post­doc­tor­al Research Fel­low with the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri on the project to restore elk to the Mis­souri Ozarks, a high­light of her career. She sub­se­quent­ly served as the Elk Biol­o­gist and lat­er Cervid Pro­gram Super­vi­sor for the Mis­souri Depart­ment of Con­ser­va­tion before leav­ing Mis­souri for the Big Game Pro­gram Leader posi­tion with the Min­neso­ta Depart­ment of Nat­ur­al Resources, a role she has served since 2019. She lives in the south metro with her part­ner Tim and enjoys hunt­ing, attempt­ing to ice fish, gar­den­ing, and try­ing to wear out her bor­der col­lie and oth­er mutt.
